Lelia Iancovici – Violin

A native of Bucharest, Lelia Iancovici began playing the violin at age seven. She has received awards including first prizes at the “Concorso Internazionale di Musica Isola di Capri” (Italy), the “W.A. Mozart Interpretation Festival” (Romania) and the “Contest for W. A. Mozart Violin and Piano Sonata Interpretation” (Romania).

In 1996, she moved to the United States where she received her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana – Champaign, where she studied with Sherban Lupu. She then obtained her Master of Music and Performance degree from Boston University, studying with Peter Zazofsky. Lelia was a fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center for the 2002 season and joined the the Verbier Festival Orchestra in 2003, becoming a member of the Verbier Chamber Orchestra in 2005. She participated in the Salzburger Festspiele, Angelika Prokopp Sommmerakademien der Wiener Phil- harmoniker and has played as substitute with the Wiener Staatsoper. She has been a member of the Orquesta de Communitat Valenciana since 2006.
