Benjamin Scherer – Violin

Benjamin Scherer Quesada was born in 1979 in Königstein/Taunus, Germany and has lived in Spain, France, and Holland. He studied violin at the “Escuela Superior de Música Reina So a” (Madrid) in the class of Professor Zakhar Bron. He then continued his studies in the Holland with Herman Krebbers and completed his masters degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam as a student of Ilya Grubert. Benjamin also specialized in historical performance practice with Patrick Bismuth (baroque violin) at the Conservatoire Régional de Paris á Rayonnement.

The German-Spanish violinist has dedicated himself with great devotion to chamber music and is a founding member of several chamber groups with whom he has performed in Europe and the USA.

Benjamin has also received first prizes in the competitions “Primer Palau” (1999), “Paper de Música” (2000) and obtained the prize “Premio Musical Interpretation INAEM” (2012). In France, Germany, Holland, and Spain he has appeared as soloist and guest concertmaster, performed in festivals and collaborated in numerous CD recordings. Benjamin obtained the Diploma of the Academy of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, was second concertmaster of the “Nedelands Kamerorkest” and plays with renowned orchestras such as the “Bayerische Staatsoper”, “La Chambre Philharmonique” as well will leading baroque ensembles such as “Les Arts Florissants” and “Al Ayre Español”. As a pedagogue, he was professor of violin at the “Conservatorio Superior de Aragón”. Benjamin joined the “Orquesta de la Communitat Valenciana” in 2012 and from 2015 has been associate concertmaster of the orchestra.
